The Rabbi Search Committee is delighted to welcome Rabbi candidate, Rabbi David Cavill, as guest Rabbi for the Shabbat weekend of February 10-12. We hope you can join us during the weekend to meet and observe Rabbi Cavill. Rabbi Cavill’s biography is included below.

Schedule of Events

  • Friday night, February 10, 2023, 5:30pm – Kabbalat Shabbat services in the Sanctuary– Rabbi Cavill will be teaching Torah between Kabbalat Shabbat and Maariv.
  • Saturday morning, February 11, 2023, 9:00am Shabbat morning services in the Sanctuary – Rabbi Cavill will be officiating as Rabbi for the services and giving the sermon.
  • Saturday afternoon, February 11, 2023, 12:00pm Shabbat Congregational Kiddush Luncheon in the Heller BallroomAll congregants are invited and there is no charge.
  • Saturday afternoon, February 11, 2023, 1:15pmRemarks by Rabbi Cavill followed by Shabbat Mincha lead by Rabbi Cavill in the Sanctuary.
  • Sunday morning, February 12, 2023, 9:00amAll Religious School parents are invited to a Bagels and Shmear Meet and Greet with Rabbi Cavill in the Heller Ballroom.

Each of these events other than the Kiddush luncheon and Bagels and Shmear will be available via Zoom for those who cannot attend in person. The Zoom link is on the FHJC website.

At the end of the weekend, we request that each member above Bar or Bat Mitzvah age fill out a brief survey giving us your impressions of Rabbi Cavill. This survey link will be distributed via email on Sunday afternoon, February 12, and will be available until candle lighting on Friday, February 17th.
