Needleworks: For All Yarn Crafters!

Come and enjoy some time together knitting, crocheting,
needlepointing, sharing patterns, and just relaxing. Lots of patterns to look through, needles and yarn for you to use, and a pattern for an easy to make newborn hat (knit or crochet) to be donated to Warm Up America.
Men's Club Indoor Soccer
Wednesdays, immediately following the 7:30pm minyan
Soccer is a weekly event, welcoming members of Gym and
Pool, Men's Club, and Day and Evening Sisterhood, or a paid member
of the Youth Department. You must be 13 or older to participate.
$5 per session (please bring a white T shirt and a dark T shirt). If there is a schedule change it will be posted to the listserve by
Tuesday morning.
Bereavement Support Group
We are forming a Bereavement Support Group for those who have suffered a loss in the past two years. This group provides a nurturing environment in which participants can share experiences, receive interpersonal support, draw insights and guidance from the Jewish tradition and gain practical information.

HAZAK visits the Rubin Museum
Sunday December 14, 11am
Our own art historian Candice Koerner, will be the docent who will
lead a guided tour of the museum’s comprehensive collection of art
from the Himalayas and surrounding regions. The Rubin Museum is home to a comprehensive collection of art from the Himalayas and surrounding regions. Candice will talk about the museum in general and the current exhibition The Dragon’s Gift: The Sacred Arts of Bhutan. The museum is located in Chelsea at 150 West 17 Street. Sisterhood Hanukkah Celebration

Come and enjoy lunch and latkes and listen to the tape of Paul Zim and the Children’s School of Israel singing Hanukkah songs

Shiva Minyan Breakfast
Sunday January 4, 9am to 10:30am,
immediately following the 8:20am minyan

The Shiva Minyan and Minyan Club welcome our guest speaker Rabbi Gerald C. Skolnik. The Shiva Minyan is the all-important support group that is there at times of personal loss and pain. It is made up of the men, women and post bar/bat mitzvah boys and girls who, on short notice, go to the home of the bereaved to make up the minyan required for the family to say Kaddish. All those who have participated in the Shiva Minyanim are urged to join us at the Annual Shiva Minyan Breakfast, which again this year is being joined by the Minyan Club. We invite everyone who supports the Shiva and Daily Minyanim to attend, as well as those who received the services of a shiva minyan. Please make your reservations by December 29.
Hebrew Literature Group

3rd Not-Quite-Annual Coffee House

FHJC/Hazon "Tuv Ha'Aretz" CSA Informational Meeting

New to The Forest Hills Jewish Center: Community Supported Agriculture. We will be partnering with an organic farm next year, to bring you fresh organic vegetables once a week from May through November. Join for the season, then stop by the shul to pick up your delicious tomatoes, lettuce, and whatever bounty the farm provides, according to the growing season. More Information. Friday Night Havurah Kabbalat Shabbat

Join the Friday Night Havurah for a lay-led Kabbalat Shabbat Service in followed by a small Oneg. Transliterations are available for most parts of the service that are sung aloud. If you wish to volunteer for leading the davening, z’mirot or giving a D’var Torah please contact Ira Beer.

Winter Night of Summer Fun

All Women and Men (18 and over), are invited to bring your swim suit and a beach blanket to enjoy a fun filled, warm (if not sunny)
evening at the pool. Board and card games, grade ‘B’ movies,
50’s and 60’s music, delicious pizza and more! Brought to you by the Men’s Club and Hazak. RSVP by January 16. Costs: Members and spouses of Men's Club, Sisterhood & Hazak: $20; Non-Members: $25.

Blood Drive

At this time of year, particularly, donations are needed! One pint of your blood can save five lives! Walk-ins welcome, but preference given to those with appointments. Remember to bring a picture ID with you. Please contact Laurie Worthman in the Center Office to schedule an appointment.
Evening Sisterhood Scrapbooking Event
Thursday January 29, immediately following 7:30pm Minyan
Do you have some Hanukkah or winter pictures that you don’t know what to do with? Join Evening Sisterhood for a night of Scrapbooking. Just bring a glue stick and make a 4-page paper brag book that you can carry with you and show off your memories. No experience is required. The cost of this event is $6 which includes all materials and snacks. If you are interested in completing the project, please contact Randi Zwick-Marks to reserve.
Youth Shabbat
Friday January 30, Kabbalat Shabbat at 6pm
and Saturday January 31, services at 9am

Join us for this very special Shabbat as students from our Center family will be leading the entire davening assisted by: children in the Nursery School, Kindergarten, and 1st through 7th grades. Kiddush following Shabbat morning services in honor of all our students for their outstanding achievements.
Gather 'Round the "Virtual Campfire"
Saturday January 31, at 8pm in the Crystal Room
Tune up your acoustic guitar, or other “unplugged” musical instrument, warm up your voice, and gather ‘round for an evening of music, songs, and just some nonelectric jammin’!
Suggested donation: $5.00 per person (for snacks ’n’ beverages)

Men's Club Superbowl Party

Looking for something to do on Superbowl Sunday? Watch the game on the Center’s giant screen TV, enjoy dinner and good companionship with the Men's Club. It is not exclusive to Men’s Club Members, it is open to all and all are welcome. Please join us!
